Star Doily
I wanted to share with you the cool star doily I found on one of my treasure hunts. Rosina kidnapped me on Saturday and took me to a little shop in our Old Town district called Mrs. O’Learys. It’s the type of shop that has different booths with different sellers’ collections. We made out really well in one seller’s booth that was having a sale of 50% off of everything, and they had a lot of crocheted doilies. Rosina found a filet piece that was in the shape of a butterfly. This star doily is just one of the doilies that I found. I’ve never seen one in this shape, have you?
This star doily is made up of the tiniest little motifs that are no more than an inch in diameter, and then, as the stitcher crocheted the last row of the motif, the motif is attached to the next motif, and so on, and so on. The whole piece only measures from one point to the other a whopping 11". I’m almost positive that the person selling the star doily doesn’t crochet because otherwise surely it would have cost more than the lump sum of a $1.
